CRICKET: The final round of the Wide Bay Goodchild Shield this Sunday will determine the winner, with South Burnett currently sitting 5.5.59 points ahead of Bundaberg.

It will be a tough ask for the Bundaberg team with Fraser Coast needing to cause an upset against South Burnett in Maryborough. Bundaberg needs to defeat Gympie to have any chance of claiming the title.

Bundaberg gave themselves a chance after their last round thrashing of Fraser Coast on a rain-affected wicket in Maryborough. They dismissed the Fraser Coast for 48 and passed their total in the tenth over.

South Burnett has beaten both Bundaberg and Gympie in this season’s competition.

The Goodchild Shield match gets underway at Salter Oval at 9 am on Sunday.

It will be the players’ second match in two days after the Rum City Foods premiership finally returns after the Christmas break and rain cancellations.

Brothers play The Waves on Salter Oval number one in round six clashes, and the East Bundy Magpies play Norths on number three.

Both matches are scheduled for an 11 am start.
