Member for Bundaberg Tom Smith has joined forces with the Bundaberg Rowing Club to call on the

Bundaberg business community to help rescue one of the club’s major sporting events for 2022.

As one of the premier locations for rowing in the state, Bucca will play host to the Queensland

Schools Championships for the next two years; however, due to unforeseen circumstances the

event’s major sponsor had been forced to pull out.

“The Bundaberg Rowing Club has been able to secure this fantastic event which will bring thousands

of students, teachers and their families to Bundaberg to compete,” Mr Smith said.

“Unfortunately, a major sponsor has had to pull out at the last minute, so we are putting out a call to

arms to the Bundaberg community to come on board and help provide sponsorship that this club

needs to hold this fantastic event.”

Bundaberg Rowing Club president Russell Mortimer said the club expects more than 800

competitors to participate, with the event to be live streamed across the state.

“This is a significant event on the calendar for rowing in Queensland and for our little club in

Bundaberg, it is a huge undertaking,” Mr Mortimer said.

“The live stream over the three days of competition will generate more than 15,000 views, and these

views are not momentary; the average viewing time is around an hour.

“For businesses, small or large, by supporting our local club through this regatta, we can offer a lot of

exposure through our sponsorship packages.”

Sponsorship will assist the club with operations for the three-day event. Interested local businesses
