One round of golf is enough for one day for most of us, if you can get an opportunity to do it.

But a few golfers next Friday 3 December will play four rounds in one day – all for a good cause.

Professional Bundaberg golfers Mick Murnane and Ryan Paul will join Triple M’s JB and staff from the Bundaberg Golf Course as they attempt to play 72 holes in a day.

Called the Longest Day, the event sees players around the country try to achieve the feat and raise money for charity.

The team did the same thing last year, raising money for the Cancer Council, and will be doing the same this year for the same charity.

“It’s pretty much the same team, myself, Ryan Paul, JB, and other players is being made up by the shop staff,” Murnane said.

“Sandra (McLeod) will come out and Craig (Swift) will come out.”

Murnane said an early start was required for them to do it all in one day.

“At 4.20am, if there is any light, we’re on, we tee off,” he said.

“We then keep trotting our way through the course.

“Last year we did the four rounds in about 12 and a quarter hours.”

Murnane said it was a challenge for the players but it was insignificant compared to what people with cancer were going through.

“To play four rounds in one day, you are not improving much and you get fatigued and sore quickly during the day,” he said.

“But it is better than being permanently ill.

“So whatever we can do to help them out is great for us.”

The team last year raised almost $3500 dollars, so the goal is to get over $4000 this year.

“This is the second year running for us doing it and we want to continue to make it bigger and better,” Murnane said.

“The Bundaberg Golf Club has been fantastic, allocating time slots for us to play.

“If anyone wants to donate, or come out and watch us and support us, they are more than welcome to.”
