The Miriam Vale Magpies have put the onus on its players to turn the season around this weekend.
The side will host its second round of Northern Districts Rugby League matches this weekend, heading into tomorrow’s matches with the record of no wins and four losses so far.
The side has gone close, leading 10-0 against Avondale in round three before conceding the last 18 points of the game to lose.
The team was also competitive last week early, against Gin Gin, down 10-6 at half time before conceding 32 unanswered points in the second half.
And coach Mitch Brennan is fed up with the team running out of depth in the second half to put up a decent fight.
“I’m not going to make excuses, but it’s bloody frustrating as a coach watching your team run around each week with no bench, when you know there were blokes available to play but would rather do other things,” he told the Miriam Vale Magpies Facebook page.
“We just need players to commit and we will be fine.
“To the blokes who turn up each week knowing that you’ll be playing the entire game with no bench, I thank you.”
Miriam Vale will play Avondale on Saturday afternoon at Gary Larson Oval at 4.15pm with Gin Gin to take on South Kolan at 2.30pm.
South Kolan will aim to stay unbeaten in the competition.
In the women’s league tag, Avondale Hornets will take on Gin Gin at 1.15pm after Gin Gin won 30-0 last week over the other Avondale team.
