The challenges keep on coming for The Waves in Bundaberg Rugby League A-grade as they prepare for the next test.
The Waves and Past Brothers will face each other this week in the first meeting between the two clubs since the 2019 grand final.
Past Brothers won the title on that day.
Since then The Waves have struggled, not winning a game since, losing all four contests so far this season after the 2020 season was cancelled.
This included a loss two weeks ago to the Wallaroos, who were also winless at the time, to go to the bottom of the ladder.
Past Brothers started the season similarly, losing their first two games, but have responded well in the past two rounds.
The team has beaten the Wallaroos and Easts and is now the in-form team of the competition.
Past Brothers will be without its captain Kevin Sherriff after he injured his eye socket during the 47th Battalion last weekend.
It is unclear how long he will be out for.
The game starts at 5pm at Salter Oval with Western Suburbs and Eastern Suburbs to play earlier at 3pm at the same venue.
The other game, which also starts at 5pm, sees the Hervey Bay take on Wallaroos at Stafford Park.
