Rotary Partners with local business to complete 10th round of assistance packs for Bundaberg region farmers

Rotary, in collaboration with Northside Produce, a local Bundaberg business, is proud to announce the successful Round 10 of the Rotary Assistance Packs, aimed at supporting farmers in the Bundaberg region.

Despite recent relief from rainfall, local graziers continue to grapple with the aftermath of prolonged droughts and devastating bushfires. The fires, in particular, have left many farmers facing setbacks equivalent to years of hard work, as they deal with destroyed fences and the challenges of rebuilding.

The destruction of these fences has not only added to the burden but has also prevented graziers from restocking paddocks to fully capitalise on the recent favourable weather conditions.

Rod Medew, project manager of the Rotary Satellite Club Coral Coast Bundaberg Central, expressed concern for those affected by the fires and emphasised the need for assistance.

“Our Rotary club is committed to providing help to those who have suffered, offering assistance packages exclusively through Northside Produce,“ Mr Medew said.

“This marks the 10th round of such packages over the past few years, totalling over $750,000 in support.

“The focus of this round is on fencing materials, specifically designed to aid deserving farmers in rebuilding fences ravaged by fire.“

While this round consisted of about 13 packs, each valued close to $1000, Mr. Medew hopes that the recipients will find solace in the support provided, making their lives a bit easier.

Brian Gordon, owner of Northside Produce in Bundaberg, was proud to be part of the Rotary initiative once again.

He has witnessed first-hand the practical and emotional support these packs provide to local farmers.

Mr Gordon highlighted the significance of Rotary acknowledging the challenges faced by local graziers and offering tangible assistance, recognising the essential role they play in the community.
