The beauty of community organisations coming together in festive spirit will be shared at the Christmas Twilight Market.

Bundaberg Meals on Wheels and Carinbundi will hold the event from 4pm to 8pm on Friday 10 December.

Carinbundi community relations officer Debra Phillips said Carinbundi and Meals on Wheels had shared a relationship for many years, with clients volunteering both in the kitchen and delivering meals to residents.

“It is a wonderful way for our clients to further develop important skills such as preparing food, and also have some wonderful social interaction as they are made to feel exceptionally welcome at Bundaberg Meals on Wheels,” she said.

“One of our long-term clients, Luke, has volunteered for an amazing 18 years, while other volunteers including Jenny, Yvonne and Amber who also enjoy their time there.

“Our clients take helping out at Meals on Wheels very seriously; they see it almost as a job and really like doing things for the community and helping.”

Bundaberg Meals on Wheels service manager Brendon Searle said the support of Carinbundi volunteers and the market supported the services’ motto ‘more than just a meal’.

“Ourselves and Carinbundi do not receive any government funding, so it will be a wonderful community event raising awareness of what we each do on a daily basis, but also an important time for fund-raising,” he said.

“We have started the event at 4pm to allow families to attend before the Christmas Carols if they would like, or simply stay and have a wonderful time until 8pm.

“So far we have 25 stalls and there really is something for everyone with plenty of amazing homemade items; basically you name it, we have it.

“Carinbundi will be doing some printing and other activities and we will also have a coffee van, Bundaberg Lions Club putting on a sausage sizzle, ham wheels, plus we will have a raffle and be selling our desserts.”

The event will be held at 10 Eastgate Street, Bundaberg East, and for more information, call Debra Phillips on 4158 9641.
