Bundaberg will field representatives in four events in the state finals, beginning at the Mackay South Suburban club this weekend.
Having won three Champion of Champions men’s events and the ladies fours at zone level, the bowlers are primed and ready for the week ahead.
This Saturday and Sunday, the East Bundaberg team of Gino Mizzi, Peter Ey, Lee Mason, Mark Mizzi will contest the Champion of Champion Fours and the Bargara Ladies, Jenny Hearn, Suzanne Kington, Deb Handley and Adele Pershouse in the corresponding ladies event.
Both teams are in form, and expectations are high.
For Across the Waves, Mick Tobin and Junior McMah play in the Champion of Champion pairs event on Monday and Tuesday.
After their form in steering ATW to a victory in the Anderson Shield last weekend, they will be tough to beat now they have hit top form.
Burnett’s Darryl Austin then lines up in the singles event on Wednesday, with finals on Thursday.
His form makes him worthy of serious contention for the title.
Six days of play will be live-streamed on Facebook with Bowls Queensland each day from 8.30am.
Adele Pershouse, Tim Smith and Matt Tonkin will represent North Queensland in the North-South Series at Mossman on 29 and 30 October.
Finishing with the State Pennant finals, Bundaberg will be confident going in after again dominating both zone playoffs, although winning only narrowly.
Bargara will travel to Mermaid Beach and Burnett to Broadbeach in the ladies tournaments, competing over 6 and 7 November.
