A 33 year-old Burnett Heads man has been charged with arson, after allegedly lighting a housefire in Avoca last night. (6 May)

Aaron James See appeared before the Bundaberg Magistrates Court today (7 May) and was remanded in custody to reappear on 15 July 2021, by video link from prison.

Fire and police crews were called to the housefire on Mott Street at about 8.15pm and came across the single-storey dwelling alight.

Fire crews managed to contain the blaze by 8.30pm.

The fire has caused extensive damage to the house and fire investigators remain on the scene.

A gas cylinder was sitting inside the entranceway of the home.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson said that the fire was put out at 9.15pm but crews were called back at midnight, when a small fire in the garage flared.
