After a successful first fund-raiser on Saturday 17 April, organiser Brianna Jones is ready to do it all again on 1 May in the name of fund-raising for those in need.

This is the second year that Brianna has participated in the Dunga Derby, raising money for families on the Fraser Coast and Sunshine Coast with life-limiting medical conditions.

The seventh annual Fraser Coast Dunga Derby is held from 29 July to 1 August and is a four-day car rally that will take 55 team vehicles and more than 200 people from the Coast to the Country while raising funds to support the local community.

In the lead-up to the derby, teams fund-raise and this money goes to the Rally for a Cause charity, which supports families and individuals affected by life-limiting medical conditions or who have had their lives disrupted by circumstances beyond their cause.

Brianna said Rally for a Cause and its fund-raising event started in 2015 in response to a Hervey Bay family with a seemingly healthy child that was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

“In that time it has raised over $1.3 million for 106 recipient families,” he said.

“Personally Campbell Jones and I decided to fund-raise for Rally for Cause Dunga Derby because it seemed like a wonderful idea to both support the recipients and the participants.

“The participants reward is ultimately getting to participate in this fun event because keeping spirits high in sometimes a difficult world.”

The Wonderful High Tea Rally for a Cause fund-raiser will be held on 1 May at HSG at the Gardens to provide a nice way for people to get together and relax, all while raising money for a very worthy cause.

“We came up with the idea to host a high tea as this year our team name is Wonderland and we have named our car Alice, so we thought that this suited our theme for this year perfectly,” she said.

“We want our high tea to be a time for people to get together and catch up over wonderful tea and excellent food, while there will also be some lucky door prizes on the day

“HSG at the Gardens provides a lovely relaxing environment to host a high tea, and Dion and the staff at the venue have plenty of experience hosting these events.

“We always look to support local charities and initiatives and we want to be able to support local families doing it tough.”
