Rain gets the fish moving

Burrnett Heads

Well after this rain we have had this week the fish should be moving and on the chew.it would be a good weekend to go see if you can catch a few mud crabs.

Big flathead have being on the move with a few people getting amongst some good size lizards.

Try and throw live bait or plastics into a mouth of a creek on the incoming tide will be your best opportunity to catch one of these fish.

They love shallow sand bars also.

The offshore weather has not being to good lately witch makes it hard for the offshore fisherman to get out offshore but let’s hope it’s not to long we can get some good weather and get out there again.

If you are heading out and want to try something different and have room for live bait head out and fish the channel markers for live bait as this can play a huge part on what fish you bring home for the day.

Live yakka can be a great way to target those bigger fish as the little fish won’t really take advantage of it, we catch all our reds, cobia, parrot, sweetlip, also cod on live yakka so it’s definitely a good choice of bait to use.

Tackleworld Bundaberg have a good range of bait and also sell yakka so if your not interested in getting the live bait dead yakka also work pretty good too.

So if you want to try something other then squid definitely give this a go!! You will be surprised! Hang hooks with a running ball sinker will be a good option for whole live bait,

Elliott Heads

The whiting fishing have being very hot the last week or so of our local beaches around Elliott Heads and coonar with worms and yabbies always working a treat.

If you haven’t got a boat and love fishing of the bank Elliot heads boat ramp have being producing some big bream and some good flathead of the bank the last couple weeks, even try your luck with some mud crabs also they have being getting a few good ones in the system.

Jack have being caught up stream of Fallons Rocks also so it might be worth heading up there with some live bait to try your luck. Thanks again and once again always check your weather before heading out offshore as it can change at anytime.
