Given the Bundaberg region is well known for its many stunning dive spots, it continues to draw many visitors looking to explore the depths of the ocean and beauty of the Great Barrier Reef.
This is being made that much easier with Dive Coaching Australia holding its Women’s Dive Day on Sunday 18 August from 8am.
Diving Coaching Australia proprietor Paul Armstrong said as with many single sex dominated sports, it could sometimes feel a bit overwhelming for those in the minority.
“We would like to see the gender balance in diving even out and providing space for women to meet other women in the sport helps work towards that goal,” he said.
“We are also big proponents of human factors in diving and one of the larger issues is psychological safety.
“This is the belief that one will not be punished or humiliated for speaking up with ideas, questions, concerns or mistakes, especially given that speaking up and feeling heard is often much harder for women in environments full of men.
“Providing a women-oriented environment can help with exploring and taking on challenges which might otherwise feel out of reach.”
This interesting, educational and fun event will provide those joining with an opportunity to meet other local women in diving, while performing a dive with gas and weights.
Also included is reduced rental equipment prices, a fun breakfast and child minding if desired for children six and over.
Paul said they were very fortunate to have access to an amazingly beautiful part of the world.
“Threats from climate change and poorly thought-out coastal activities can take that away from us, so we want to give people the opportunity to enjoy this diving experience.
“It is integral to remind people that people protect what they understand and love.
“Events like this help people to understand just what an amazing place we live in and the fragile nature of the environment we’re privileged to have direct access to.
