When it comes to organising a great fundraising event, the Zonta Club of Bundaberg members know how to do it in style.
For that reason, they are encouraging everyone to get out their ugliest Christmas sweaters and get ready to strut their stuff in the parade for best individual and best group at their Christmas in July celebrations.
Held on Sunday 14 July from 2pm at the Brothers Sports Club, there will be plenty of Christmas festiveness including Christmas carols, Christmas inspired food and a take your own photo booth with props.
The Zonta Club of Bundaberg member Karen Chadwick said the idea for this event came about as a few members were self-confessed Christmas obsessed and looking for a fun event for the middle of the year.
“What I love about Christmas in July as a fundraiser is that it is a great opportunity to have an afternoon where you can relax and have fun, just like during the festive season,” she said.
“Christmas is about joy, happiness and family and friends and getting together to have some nice food and play some games.
“I think it is a great community event where like-minded people can get together and connect and make new friends.
As well as our ugly Christmas sweater parade and competition, we also have Christmas-themed trivia and bingo with great prizes to be won.
“Some of our craftier members will be hosting a pop-up market stall, with the majority of profits being donated directly back to the club and we also have raffles and a hundreds board on the day, along with a lucky chair prize.
“Brothers Sports is a great venue for this type of event as it has a spacious room with all of the facilities in one place.
“They are also able to cater our event and have always been very generous in supporting Zonta and I’m told the staff who will be working the event are also excited to get dressed up in the theme.”
All proceeds from the day will go towards Zonta’s educational support programs for local girls and women.
The Zonta Club of Bundaberg have a busy second half of the year with a cent sale at Burnett Bowls Club on 16f November and the 16 Days of Activism Campaign which runs from 25 November to 10 December.
