Showcase opens up innovation of Bundaberg region to rest of Australia

Right from the morning registrations on day one, the AgTech Showcase 2024 on 22 and 23 October was a dynamic event that allowed over 100 guests a gateway to the latest innovation transforming the agtech landscape.

Organised by Regional Business HQ, as the name suggests, the event covers both the agricultural and technology industries highlighting cutting edge technology and revealing the newest tools and solutions revolutionising farming.

Add to that topics such as sustainability and circular economy with agtech driving sustainable practices, while provenance and traceability allowed exploration of advancements ensuring food quality and statements.

Regional Business HQ general manager Brooke Fossey said it was inspiring to see how far the event had come since its inception and just how it allowed not only networking but also learning.

“Whether you are a farmer, tech enthusiast or industry professional, there was clearly something for everyone,” Ms Fossey said.

“It was a pleasure to welcome Assistant Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry senator Anthony Chisholm who continued to be impressed with our local success stories with local producers sharing their agtech journeys.

“We have really opened a lot of people’s eyes to just how much we are achieving in the Bundaberg region with guests coming from Cairns, Western Australia and even Tasmania.”

Senator Chisholm said events like these were important bringing tech developers and growers together.

“They can learn off each other and apply that technology for the future,” he said.

“We know that it plays a vital role in making our farmers more productive and Bundaberg is such a great farming community it’s important they can benefit from this technology.”

The federal government has announced it is investing more than $12 million into events like these across regional Australia with $600,000 being spent in the Bundaberg region.

“It was wonderful to see SSS Strawberries honoured with the Hinkler Innovation Award for the year at the Hinkler Innovation Award Breakfast as a result of all their hard work and commitment to the region.

“A massive thank you to everyone who participated in and supported the AgTech Showcase 2024, we hope you enjoyed the slightly different perspectives to innovation and progress, including the roles of tradition and sustainability working hand-in-hand with productivity and profitability

“We’ve had great feedback on the event so far, but will certainly be seeking feedback to see how we can make it even better in future.”
