Milton and Mavis Zimmerlie will celebrate 79 years married on 7 July this year.
They both live in Meliene Nursing Home now where the staff make sure they are able to spend time together most days.
They greet each other with kisses and sit together holding hands.
They are a wonderful example of everlasting love.
They have worked hard together over the years on their cane farm as well as other jobs.
They loved to fish and every couple of weeks headed to Toogoom to go out in the boat with family to catch enough fish to keep them going till next time.
In May this year, family and friends came together at Meliene to celebrate Mavis’ 100th birthday and all children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were there.
What a wonderful day for Mavis and Milton to have them altogether in one place.
They had a display of Mavis’ needlework including knitted, crocheted and sewn garments, Emaculate.
How she had time to garden and fish and do all that as well as put cooking in the shows is amazing.
